CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Uday Bhanu Chib, former president of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress was appointed the national president of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on Sunday. Chib will take over from Srinivas B V as the chief of the youth wing of the country’s principal opposition party.
Uday Bhanu Chib, who is serving as the general secretary of IYC, has been appointed as the president of the organisation with immediate effect by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, a party statement said.
Chib’s promotion in the IYC ranks comes at a time when the Congress is heading into a closely-fought Assembly battle in Jammu and Kashmir. Chib was part of the Congress’s manifesto committee for the elections in the Union Territory.
“Hon’ble Congress President has appointed Shri Uday Bhanu Chib, currently General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress and former President of the Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress, as the President of the Indian Youth Congress, with immediate effect. The party appreciates the contributions of the outgoing President, Shri Srinivas BV,” the Congress statement signed by General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal read.
