CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal / Mumbai : Mumbai’s political and legal circles were stirred after Baba Siddique’s son and MLA, Zeeshan Siddique, revealed that his RTI application on gangster Anmol Bishnoi was rejected by Mumbai Police. The RTI was filed to seek information on Bishnoi’s movement, arrests, and cases registered against him. However, authorities denied the request, citing ongoing investigations and national security concerns.
Zeeshan Siddique expressed disappointment over the rejection, questioning the transparency of the system. He argued that the people of Mumbai deserve to know how law enforcement agencies are handling sensitive cases involving notorious gangsters like Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
According to sources, police officials invoked provisions under the RTI Act that allow authorities to withhold details if disclosure could hamper investigations or endanger lives. The police maintained that revealing any information at this stage could benefit criminal networks and compromise ongoing operations.
The development comes amid growing public concern over the rise of organized crime networks linked to extortion, drug trade, and high-profile attacks. Anmol Bishnoi, who is believed to be operating from abroad, has been named in several extortion threats to businessmen and celebrities.
Zeeshan Siddique’s move has added a political angle to the issue, as he accused the system of shielding criminals by denying information to the public. The debate highlights the delicate balance between right to information and national security imperatives in high-stakes criminal cases.
