New Delhi: Actress Nora Fatehi recorded her statement on Friday before Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar case linked to an alleged fraud of about Rs 200 crore. She told the court that Sukesh’s wife, Leena Paulose, met her during a charity event held in Chennai in December 2020. During that meeting, she was offered a car as a gift. Sukesh also requested her during a phone conversation to accept the car.
Testifying before Additional Sessions Judge Gagandeep Singh, Nora said she had been invited as an artiste to the Chennai event through an agency named Exceed Entertainment. The organiser of the event was Leena Paulose. According to Nora, before the event, Leena came to meet her along with her family members and two videographers. She had also brought some gifts with her.
Nora said Leena introduced herself as the owner of a nail artistry salon and said her husband wanted to speak to her. Leena then called Sukesh and put the conversation on speaker. Sukesh thanked her for attending the event and expressed a desire to organise more events with her in the future. In the same conversation, Leena mentioned gifting a car, and Sukesh also urged her to accept it.
The actress told the court that she did not receive any fee for the Chennai event, though her travel, staff and other expenses were borne by the organisers. She attended the event as the chief guest and judged a dance competition.
The case relates to the alleged extortion of about Rs 200 crore from Aditi Singh during 2020-21 by impersonating senior government officials while Sukesh was lodged in Delhi’s Rohini Jail. Nora is not an accused in the case but a prosecution witness. Her further testimony will be recorded on November 30.
