CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In a major breakthrough for security forces in Chhattisgarh, a woman Naxalite carrying a bounty of ₹8 lakh surrendered before the police in Gariaband district. The surrendered cadre has been identified as Jansi, who was active in several Naxal operations across the region.
According to officials, Jansi was involved in multiple violent incidents, including attacks on security personnel and the destruction of government property. Her surrender is being seen as a significant success for the ongoing anti-Naxal operations in the state.
Police officials revealed that Jansi had been working with senior Maoist leaders and was a key figure in mobilizing local youth for the Naxal movement. However, continuous pressure from security forces, coupled with the government’s rehabilitation policies, played a crucial role in her decision to give up arms.
Authorities have assured that she will be provided benefits under the state’s surrender and rehabilitation scheme, which includes financial assistance, housing, education, and livelihood support. This scheme is aimed at encouraging other Naxal cadres to shun violence and return to the mainstream.
Security experts believe that such surrenders not only weaken the operational strength of the Maoists but also help build trust between local communities and law enforcement. With Jansi’s surrender, the police expect more cadres to follow suit in the coming months, further reducing Naxal influence in Chhattisgarh.
