CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A district-level awareness campaign was organized to prevent gender-based violence. Joint Director of the Directorate of Women and Child Development, Mr. Suresh Tom, delivered a message encouraging participants to break the silence against violence and engaged in a detailed discussion on gender sensitivity.

Archana Sahay, Director of Aarambh Foundation, guided participants on the POCSO Act 2012, emphasizing the need for open discussions on gender violence at home, schools, and society to prevent crimes. Advocate Anita Rajpali provided insights on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006 and the Domestic Violence Act 2005, discussing practical approaches to prevent child marriages and stressing the importance of not tolerating domestic violence. She also encouraged participants to use helpline numbers 1098 and 100 to report issues.

District Program Officer Sunil Solanki from Women and Child Development explained the objectives of the “Hum Honge Kamyab” fortnight initiative, set to run until December 10, 2024. Mrs. Archana Sharma, Sub-Divisional Officer, TT Nagar, highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between the police, Women and Child Development Department, and the local community to prevent gender-based violence.

The event was conducted by Akhilesh Chandra Chaturvedi, Project Officer, Banganga. Distinguished guests included Divisional Joint Director Nakeezaha Qureshi, supervisors, ward councilors, members of the Shaurya Dal, Ladli Club girls, members of the Child Protection Committee, and Anganwadi workers.

This initiative aimed to raise awareness and foster collaboration to combat gender-based violence effectively.
