The Department of Women’s Studies at Barkatullah University, Bhopal, in collaboration with the Centre for Financial and Corporate Integrity, Coventry University, UK, organized a workshop on “Women in Leadership.” The primary objective was to explore the challenges faced by women in leadership roles across various sectors and discuss potential solutions. Additionally, the workshop aimed to outline future research and initiatives on women and leadership in the Indian context.

Dr. Rita Goyal, Director at the Centre for Financial and Corporate Integrity, Coventry University, was the keynote speaker. She shed light on the theme “Women in Leadership – Challenges and Resilience,” sharing research findings on challenges faced by women in top corporate positions in the UK. She also discussed possibilities for collaborative research and publications with the Department of Women’s Studies at Barkatullah University.

Prof. Vinita Bhatnagar from Rajiv Gandhi Technological University delivered an address on “Women in Power.” Prof. Ruchi Ghosh Dastidar, Head of the Women’s Studies Department, welcomed the participants, emphasizing that women should not seek equality by comparison with men but rather establish their own identity while excelling in their fields.

Dr. Jaya Phookan coordinated the workshop, which witnessed active participation from women leaders across diverse fields, including entrepreneurship, law, education, arts, literature, social work, and media. The participants shared their experiences, discussed challenges and solutions, and contributed insights on the future direction of women’s leadership.
