CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In collaboration with Vidya Bharati Institute of Higher Education, Barkatullah University is organizing a two-day national workshop on “National Education Policy 2020: Legal Curriculum” on October 24, 2024. The workshop aims to restructure legal education under the National Education Policy 2020 to incorporate India’s traditional justice system into the legal field. The primary goal is to strengthen legal education by integrating national and international practices with the Indian justice tradition, with a focus on practical and ethical perspectives.

The coordinators, Mona Purohit and Shashiranjan Akela, are organizing this workshop with the objective of developing a national curriculum for legal studies in collaboration with various legal academic institutions across the country. According to program coordinator Mona Purohit, the report from this workshop will be sent to the Bar Council of India (BCI) and other important institutions to be considered for inclusion in the national legal curriculum.

The two-day workshop will focus on creating a curriculum that meets the current needs and contributes to the development and welfare of students. Topics such as the Indian judicial tradition, comparative study of legal systems, and practical legal education will be discussed. The workshop will also cover various aspects of legal education, including criminal law, social justice, international trade law, human rights, and cyber law.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for in-depth discussions on legal topics such as social justice, criminal law, intellectual property law, and international trade law. Additionally, there will be deliberations on how to incorporate practical experiences and ethical teachings into legal education. Vice-Chancellor of BU, S.K. Jain, mentioned that the workshop will offer an opportunity for dialogue among educators, researchers, students, and legal professionals, where they will share suggestions for improving legal education.

The workshop will be held at PSS Central Institute of Education, located in Shyamla Hills, Bhopal. The first day will feature prominent guests, including Retired Justice Aniruddha Bose, Director of the National Judicial Academy, and Inder Singh Parmar, Higher Education Minister, along with Kailash Chandra Sharma, President of Vidya Bharati Institute of Higher Education. On the second day, Madhya Pradesh’s Deputy Lokayukta Justice S.K. Palo and Supreme Court’s Additional Advocate General for Madhya Pradesh, Advocate Jaideep Roy, will be special guests.
