CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: A “Student Public Safety – Youth Creation Dialogue” programme was organised at Sarojini Naidu Government Girls Post Graduate Autonomous College, Bhopal, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Pratima Yadav, jointly by the NCC and NSS departments. Programme coordinator Mrs. Neha Chaudhary said the initiative is being conducted through the joint efforts of the Higher Education Department and the Madhya Pradesh Police administration, with the objective of informing students about legal systems and rights and making them aware of police and public safety. The chief guest was Monika Shukla, Additional Superintendent of Police, Urban Police Bhopal. Additional DCP Manjulata and ACP Traffic Ajay Bajpai from the police department were also present.

Taking the programme forward, DCP Manjulata briefed the students on its framework. ACP Ajay Bajpai then interacted with the students on traffic awareness, guided them and encouraged them to follow traffic rules. College Principal Pratima Yadav extended wishes for the success and fulfilment of the programme’s objectives and urged the students to use the programme to learn about laws related to women’s safety and prove themselves empowered and self-reliant. Chief guest Monika Shukla, an alumna of the college from 1988, asked the students to absorb the information being shared through the programme, ensure their own safety, and also share it with the general public to make them aware of their legal rights.

Inspector Raman Sharma gave information on cyber security and de-addiction, Inspector Aradhana Patel on first responders, police emergency institutions, disaster management and PCR vans, Inspector Sarita Barman on the criminal justice system, police stations, courts and the women’s help desk, and Inspector Kiran Pedro on child protection. They also addressed the doubts and questions raised by the students and provided detailed information on various areas related to legal safety. Thereafter, college members Udita Sharma spoke on mental health welfare and suicide prevention, Neha Chaudhary on the way forward as a responsible citizen, and Varsha Dhakad on rights, the Constitution and legal rules.

The students inspected a PCR van and visited Habibganj police station, where they were informed about public safety measures provided by the police. Administrative Officer Chhaya Chandravanshi proposed the vote of thanks. Senior faculty members of the college office were also present. The programme was conducted by Neha Chaudhary and Varsha Dhakad. Other college faculty members, including Anil Kaushal, K.V. Rai, Nisha Sharma, Jagruti Katra and Anjali Arakh, made special contributions to its implementation.

NCC and NSS students actively participated in the programme and learned about the benefits of the legal rights explained during it. Divisional Commissioner Sharma said the government has made the fertiliser distribution system extremely convenient for farmers this time. Farmers can generate tokens for fertiliser from home through WhatsApp. Facilitation centres have also been set up at the panchayat level. Every farmer sowing crops will be provided adequate fertiliser according to their requirement. Sharma directed officials to pay special attention to fertiliser distribution. Special care should also be taken to ensure that farmers do not have to travel far to obtain fertiliser. Divisional Commissioner Sharma directed that effective action should be taken in all districts of the division to prevent stubble burning. Farmers should be counselled for this and encouraged to use harvesters. Every harvester should have a straw management system installed, as this mixes the stubble into the soil. He also asked officials to speak to representatives of insurance companies and farmer organisations to ensure that farmers receive the maximum possible benefit of the crop insurance scheme.
