CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress / Bhopal: A program was organized under the World Autism Week at Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University. The event was held in the auditorium of the university. The programme was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University. University Registrar Sushil Mandariya was present on the occasion and was present in the role of program coordinator. On this occasion, Shri Sandeep Rajak, Commissioner Disabled Public Welfare, Government of Madhya Pradesh was present as the chief guest of the program. The event, held as part of World Autism Week, was conducted by the university’s Department of Special Education (DSE). On this occasion, all the senior people presented their views on the related topic.
Introducing the topic in the program, Hemant Singh Keswal, Senior Advisor and Assistant Professor, Department of DSE, University said that in 2007, it was decided to celebrate Autism Day on April 2 unofficially. Until 2000, autism used to be one in 700, but currently this number is one in 100. Sharing his experiences on the subject of autism, he said that the number of autism has increased since Covid. Children with autism have less socialism and eye contact. It is a neurodevelopmental disability. He also clarified in his view that autism does not occur after 3 years. The symptoms of autistic begin to appear in the infant only after 1 year. Autism is four times more common in boys. Children with autism can be brought under control through behavioral speech language therapy and special education.
In the middle of the program, Mr. Sandeep Rajak, Commissioner, Disabled People’s Welfare, Madhya Pradesh, while expressing his views, said that autism is called autism in Hindi. He congratulated Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University for becoming a leading university in the field of disability and appreciated the university and said that Bhoj University is doing a very good job through special education.
Taking cognizance of the subject of autism, Dr. Sushil Mandaria, Registrar of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, said that the reason for celebrating these days is the increasing number of such cases. Children with autism begin to show signs from the age of 1. Emotions are disappearing in our society. To overcome such problems, it is necessary to connect them with society and make them mentally strong. Autism makes the body healthy after a certain age, while in children, autism takes the form of a disease. Children who have autism must give some more time than necessary. It is important to maintain sensitivity, communication and touch with such children.
Prof. Sanjay Tiwari, Vice Chancellor of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, who presided over the program, expressed his views in his address and said that we should understand autism and one in every 68 children is suffering from autism. Albert Einstein was also a victim of autism. Albert Einstein was expelled from his school due to autism. While the country is progressing, science has also made progress in various fields, even today science has not come far in the subject of neurology. Children with autism do not interact socially. Such children do not need our sympathy but support. We have to try to convert the intellectual disability of these children into appointments. Autism can be eliminated by increasing awareness in society. Today there are many big personalities in the country who have once faced this problem. Finally punctuating his words, Vice Chancellor Prof. Tiwari said, “Manzil to unki hai par sath hamara hai”.
At the end of the program, Director of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, Prof. L.P. Jharia expressed his views in 2 sentences related to the topic of autism and at the end thanked all the people present. The forum was moderated by Sadhana Bisen, Senior Advisor, Centre for Internal Quality and Assurance (CIOA) of the University. All the professors, officers and employees of the university were present in this program to be held under World Autism Week.
