CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of World Book and Copyright Day, 250 new literary books were launched at the Government Maulana Azad Central Library, Bhopal.

On this occasion, Bhopal Collector Priyank Mishra and District Panchayat CEO Ila Tiwari visited the library, obtained membership, and appealed to citizens to join the library as well. They also reviewed the RFID technology system, self-issue-return kiosks, and OPAC system.

Key Instructions by the Collector:

Training center to be developed – A dedicated training center should be established in the library for preserving old manuscripts and gazetteers.

Increase member participation – Coordination with selected library members should be strengthened to support library development.

Link with RRRLF Kolkata – The library should be connected with schemes of Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata.

Research platform registration – The library should be registered on platforms like INFLIBNET, Shodhganga, and Shodhganga/Gangotri to provide data access to research students.

Technological upgradation – The library should be modernized with new equipment and enhanced facilities.

Key Achievements of the Library:

117-year-old heritage – Established in 1908, this is the oldest and most prestigious knowledge center of Madhya Pradesh, preserving over 1 lakh rare books and manuscripts.

Step towards Digital Madhya Pradesh – It is the first RFID-enabled government library in the state, with rapid digitization of rare manuscripts underway.

Youth-focused initiative – With a dedicated ‘Study Circle’ for competitive exam preparation and free Wi-Fi facility, the library is becoming a career hub for youth.

On this occasion, district administration officials, library regional librarian Ratna Wadhwani, manager Rachit Malviya, and other staff members were present.
