CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal Organizes Two-Day Palliative Care Training on World Cancer Day

Under the guidance of AIIMS Bhopal Executive Director Ajay Singh, a two-day palliative care training program was organized for doctors and nursing officers on the occasion of World Cancer Day. The training was conducted by NHM (CMHO Office, Bhopal) in collaboration with AIIMS Bhopal. A total of 58 nursing officers and 68 medical officers from Bhopal and nearby regions participated in the program.

The objective of this training was to equip doctors and nursing officers with specialized skills in pain management and patient care for critically ill and terminal patients.

🔹 Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla emphasized the importance of palliative care training on World Cancer Day, stating that it will enable healthcare workers to provide better services and alleviate patients’ pain and discomfort. He highlighted early cancer detection and urged participants to maximize AIIMS resources. He also praised the recent successful heart transplant at AIIMS Bhopal and underscored the significance of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in ensuring quality healthcare.

🔹 AIIMS Bhopal Chairman Sunil Malik remarked on the special significance of February 4, World Cancer Day, under the theme “United by Uniqueness”. He stressed that fighting cancer requires collective efforts beyond medical treatment, incorporating compassion, care, and dignity for patients.

🔹 Executive Director Ajay Singh highlighted that palliative care is an integral part of healthcare, improving quality of life for patients and offering psychological support to their families. He emphasized that this training will enhance the sensitivity and effectiveness of healthcare professionals in dealing with complex cases.

🔹 CMHO Bhopal, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, described the training as a crucial step in healthcare development and noted that the state budget includes provisions for Cancer Day Care Centers at district levels.
