CNN Central News and Network–ITDC India ePress / ITDC News Bhopal: Representatives who returned to Bhopal after participating in the historic World Color event in Mauritius shared their creative experiences and narrated several interesting and significant incidents during the “World Color Dialogue” held at Hotel Palash.
On this occasion, Santosh Choubey, Director of World Color and Chancellor of Rabindra Nath Tagore University (Bhopal, India), shared his experiences, stating that Mr. Praveen Kumar Jugnauth, Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, honored the World Color Mauritius by attending and emphasized that the grand World Color 2024 event, dedicated to the global promotion of Hindi and its literature, art, and culture, has paved the way for the global expansion of Hindi in Mauritius. He noted that World Color has also played a crucial role in strengthening cultural and educational relations between India and Mauritius. The discussions from various sessions of World Color have provided insights that will help take meaningful steps in that direction. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Rabindra Nath Tagore University and the Mahatma Gandhi Institute, Mauritius, will offer long-term opportunities for creative and innovative work through mutual coordination. Santosh Choubey was warmly congratulated for the historic World Color event and the MOU.
Choubey further stated that the MOU between Rabindra Nath Tagore University and the Mahatma Gandhi Institute, Mauritius, will provide significant opportunities for both countries to promote creative work in language, education, literature, art, and culture collaboratively.
World Color 2024: A Grand, Extraordinary, and Historic Event in Mauritius
The sixth edition of Asia’s largest festival, “World Color,” overflowing with the vibrant hues of language, literature, art, and culture, was held with full grandeur in Mauritius, renowned worldwide for its beaches and cultural heritage. On August 7, 8, and 9, 2024, creators, artists, and scholars from India-Mauritius, along with participants from Russia, Japan, South Korea, the UK, the US, Australia, Germany, Kenya, Indonesia, Bahrain, the UAE, Cyprus, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Nigeria, New Zealand, Nepal, Qatar, and Suriname, gathered together to showcase Hindi on the global stage.
Under the expert leadership of Rabindra Nath Tagore University and the World Color Secretariat, and hosted by the World Hindi Secretariat (Mauritius), World Color 2024 carved a golden chapter on the global platform from the land of Mauritius.
The three-day ‘World Color 2024’ Tagore International Literature and Arts Festival was graced by the Honorable President of the Republic of Mauritius, Prithviraj Singh Roopun, Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Deputy Prime Minister Leela Devi Dookun, High Commissioner of India, Nandini K. Singla (Mauritius), and several esteemed ministers, officials, and senior literary figures from Mauritius, providing the event with new heights through their dignified presence and inspiring speeches.
The Tagore International Hindi Center, Tagore World Art and Culture Center, Mahatma Gandhi Institute (Mauritius), Rabindra Nath Tagore Institute (Mauritius), Hindi Speaking Union (Mauritius), Hindi Pracharini Sabha (Mauritius), Indira Gandhi Indian Cultural Center (Mauritius), Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (Mauritius), Vanmali Srijan Peeth (India), and over 50 national and international institutions made the ‘World Color 2024’ event in Mauritius truly memorable. The grand, extraordinary, and historic event in Mauritius has opened many avenues for advancing Hindi on a global scale.
Establishment of the Tagore International Hindi Center
Choubey announced that the ‘Tagore International Hindi Center’ has been established within the Rabindra Nath Tagore University campus. This center will function globally as a mission for Hindi by setting up centers in various countries and continuously editing creative works. The center has developed Hindi acquisition courses for international reading and writing, and has also undertaken standardization and certification work. Through the International Hindi Mission, we aim to connect one crore people worldwide to Hindi reading and writing programs.
Announcement of Afro-Asia International World Color Award
On this occasion, Santosh Choubey announced that starting from World Color 2025, individuals working globally in the fields of education, literature, art, and culture will be honored with the ‘Afro-Asia International World Color Award.’
Global Translation Efforts
Alongside the Tagore International Hindi Center, a ‘Multilingual Translation Center’ has also been established at Rabindra Nath Tagore University, Bhopal. This center aims to promote translation efforts on a global level. Under World Color, we have translated Hindi stories by 51 Indian storytellers into English and published them in two volumes, which have been well received by readers. With this in mind, we have also published these stories in Urdu, Malayalam, Odia, Marathi, and Bengali, each in two volumes. We believe in maintaining creative mobility between Indian languages. All Indian languages and local dialects have a deep connection with one another and influence each other.
Grand Organization of Hindi Olympiad at Global Level
Under World Color, the ‘Hindi Olympiad’ will be organized in over 50 countries. Competitions will be held on various topics including stories, poetry, songs, non-fiction prose, environment, climate change, new farming techniques, scientific writing, technical education, skill development, and artificial intelligence. The event aims to include ten lakh students and participants.
