CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A two-day event was organized at Rabindranath Tagore University by the Science Communication Center, the Faculty of Science, and the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit on the occasion of World Earth Day. The program centered around environmental conservation and awareness, featuring a range of activities.
On the first day, faculty members and students participated in a tree plantation drive on the university campus. Following this, Professor Suchi Modi gave an impactful presentation on environmental protection and medicinal plants. She explained how these plants not only benefit our health but also play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance. Additionally, students created and exhibited attractive posters themed on World Earth Day.
On the second day, NSS students visited the village of Char Mandli in Raisen district, where they engaged in voluntary labor to support the village’s development. On this occasion, retired IRS officer and Gandhian thinker R. S. Paliwal, along with social reformer and Gandhian Lakshman Gole, addressed the students, delivering messages on saving the planet and promoting organic farming.
The event also featured insights from Dr. Poorvi Bhardwaj, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Preeti Singh from the Science Communication Center, and NSS heads Gabbar Singh and Rekha Gupta. They emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and climate change, urging students to remain vigilant and proactive in protecting nature.
The program concluded with a student visit to Jheeri (Raisen), the origin point of the Betwa River. This visit provided students with a deeper connection to nature and an understanding of the importance of water resource conservation. The special Earth Day celebration instilled a stronger sense of environmental responsibility and awareness among both students and faculty.
