CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: World Environment Day 2024 was organized under the joint aegis of the Department of Life Sciences and Science Communication Center of Rabindranath Tagore University. This year’s theme was ‘Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience’. Various activities were organized on this occasion. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of the University Rajni Kant, Prof. T. Ravi Kiran was present as the keynote speaker.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of the University, Rajni Kant inspired the students to be aware of environmental protection and play an active role in this direction. Whereas Prof. T. Ravi Kiran delivered a guest lecture on the topic ‘Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience’. He told that desertification, land degradation and drought are big problems. It affects people. Since human life requires fertile and productive land for many essential activities.

Therefore desertification is a major obstacle to sustainable development. He called upon everyone to plant a lot of trees.

Earlier, a poster competition was organized in which students presented posters highlighting the importance of environmental protection and land restoration. Students participated enthusiastically in this competition and displayed their creativity. The program ended with an open house quiz on environment.

In which students participated enthusiastically and answered environment related questions.

Under the joint aegis of the Department of Life Sciences and the Center for Science Communication of the University, this event played an important role in spreading the importance of environmental protection to the masses and sensitizing the students towards environmental issues.

Through such programs, efforts are being made to increase environmental awareness and activism among students.

On this occasion, Director of Science Communication Center Prabal Roy, Dean of Faculty of Science Purvi Bhardwaj, Ankit Aggarwal, Head of Department, Life Science along with other professors were present.
