CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: World Environment Day is being celebrated with great enthusiasm and awareness for a week at the Faculty of Science, Scope Global Skills University. This program is sponsored by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, Bhopal. The event began with a tree plantation ceremony attended by the university’s Registrar Sitesh Sinha, Dean of Science Faculty Satyendra Khare, along with all department deans, heads, teachers, and students.
On the first day, young students participated actively in various activities including paper and poster presentations, and an environmental speech competition among the students. The judges for the competition were Nitin Mod, Dean of Commerce Department, and Sanju Sharma, HOD of Education Department, who encouraged the students to contribute to environmental protection.
The second day featured expert lectures by guest speakers and the chief guest Lokendra Thakkar, Officer In-charge, Madhya Pradesh Government Wetland Authority (EPCO), Bhopal, and Vipin Vyas, Professor and Head of Zoology and Applied Aquaculture Department, Barkatullah University, Bhopal. They discussed ways to keep rivers healthy and explained the ecosystem of rivers through various experiments. Lokendra Thakkar highlighted that nanoplastics are entering the body through water and food and reaching the brain, which is harmful to health, and stressed the need to change our lifestyle.

At the beginning of the program, the Dean of Science Faculty, Satyendra Khare, welcomed the guests and screened a documentary film made by them on the harmful effects of plastic on Earth, showcasing the damage caused by plastic pollution. Professor and Academic Dean V.K. Gupta expressed concern over the declining quality of agricultural land.
Throughout the program, Vijay Singh, Vice-Chancellor of SGSU, and Registrar Sitesh Sinha were present, encouraging the students and distributing awards. The event concluded with coordinator Jyotsna Mishra expressing gratitude and taking a pledge from students for environmental protection. The program was conducted by Vishakha Rajurkar Rao.
On the third day, students recited environmental poems, wrote slogans, and performed songs. A campus cleanliness and sanitation drive was also conducted. In the coming days, the NSS cell will organize a workshop on ‘Best Out of Waste’ to inspire students to make useful items from waste materials.
The closing session of the final day will include a health and fitness workshop by yoga expert Sanjay Solanki and an expert lecture by Dr. Vikas Shende from the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, Bhopal.
