CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of World Malaria Day, various awareness programs were organized across Bhopal district on Friday. This year’s theme was “Time to deliver zero malaria: Invest, Innovate, Implement.” School children, Anganwadi workers, and healthcare institutions enthusiastically participated in these events. Students were informed about the symptoms, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of malaria.
Poster and drawing competitions, rallies, and quiz contests were held in schools, Anganwadi centers, and healthcare institutions. Additionally, healthcare institutions conducted orientation sessions on the malaria treatment policy. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari stated that significant progress has been made in malaria control across the district. In 2023, only 12 cases were found among 326,000 tests, and this year, no positive cases were detected in over 43,000 tests.
With support from the EMBED Project and Godrej, community meetings, pledge ceremonies, and slogan-writing competitions were conducted. ASHA workers raised awareness in villages about malaria elimination. The collection and use of Gambusia fish was also undertaken.
To prevent malaria, the administration continues its efforts through insecticide spraying, mosquito net distribution, larval control, and public awareness campaigns. These efforts are proving to be milestones on the path to a malaria-free Bhopal.
