CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the direction of Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari and guidance of District Malaria Officer Pranjal Khare, various activities were organized in urban and rural areas to mark World Malaria Day. The events were carried out by the District Malaria Office and Godrej-supported EMBED project Bhopal. Awareness programs were conducted at schools, all municipal zones, Sanjeevani Clinics, Civil Dispensaries, and PHC levels.

During the vaccination day, community meetings and malaria awareness pledge ceremonies were held at Anganwadi centers by zone officers and their teams. At the block level, ASHA workers conducted slogan writing activities and raised awareness at village level regarding malaria eradication.

In schools, children were encouraged to spread messages about malaria prevention through drawing and painting activities. Around 700 children participated in these programs. The events were attended by zone officers, supervisors, the district malaria team, EMBED team, ASHA workers, and Anganwadi workers.

At community health centers, ASHA workers received special training. In malaria-affected areas, Gambusia fish were released for mosquito control, and public announcements via loudspeakers were used to inform the public.

The malaria and EMBED teams educated people about mosquito-borne diseases and the risks they pose. Citizens were encouraged to adopt precautionary measures like preventing water stagnation around homes, keeping water containers covered, and changing and cleaning water in pots, tanks, and coolers every fourth day. People were advised that neglecting fever can be dangerous, and were urged to get their blood tested immediately in case of fever and complete the full course of treatment if diagnosed with malaria.
