CNN Central News & Network – ITDC India E-Press / ITDC News Bhopal:On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, Sarojini Naidu Government Girls’ Postgraduate College, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh organized a series of awareness programs under the joint aegis of NSS, NCC, and the Sports Department to educate students about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption.
All programs were conducted under the guidance of Principal Deepti Srivastava. The event began with a special lecture on tobacco prohibition delivered by Administrative Officer Ashok Kumar Nema. He highlighted the adverse effects of tobacco use, its role in deaths and cancer in India, and the resulting impact on individuals and their families. He encouraged the students to abstain from tobacco use themselves and to motivate their families and communities to do the same.
Following the lecture, students took a pledge against tobacco use. NCC cadets participated in a slogan-writing competition to spread the anti-tobacco message. NSS volunteers performed a street play inspiring a drug-free lifestyle. The Sports Department promoted yoga as a means of enhancing health and progressing toward a tobacco-free life.
The event was coordinated by Neha Chaudhary, NCC caretaker. At the conclusion of the program, winners of the slogan-writing competition were awarded certificates. The program saw valuable contributions from Sports Officer Rashmi Kela Holani, NSS Officer Manjula Biswas, Nishi Sharma, and Pratibha Mishra.
