CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal/ Ujjain: The program organized at Samrat Vikramaditya University on the occasion of World Sign Language Day captivated all the students and guests in attendance. The main objective of the event was to highlight the rights of deaf and differently-abled children and their social inclusion.
The chief guest, renowned deaf trainer from Indore, Mr. Gyanendra Purohit, attended the event and provided live demonstrations of sign language throughout his lectures, speeches, and interactions, enchanting all the attendees and students.
Special guests included Sign Language Master Trainer Priyanka Sahu and Father Tom George, Director of the College of Special Education in Psychodevelopment. Chief Guest Gyanendra Purohit also presented his documentary, “Khamoshi Ki Goonj”, which depicted the education, training, and life struggles of deaf and differently-abled children. Additionally, the university presented a yoga documentary, “Anugoonj”, educating children about the importance of yoga.

In his presidential address, Chancellor Arpan Bhardwaj emphasized that sign language is not only essential for deaf individuals but also for society at large. He urged students to adopt it as a social campaign and make efforts to integrate differently-abled children into the mainstream.
A sign language workshop was also conducted during the program, providing all participants training in communication through hand gestures. Cultural performances by deaf children added a special charm to the event. At the conclusion, students showcased folk dances from various states of India, highlighting the nation’s cultural diversity, and the national anthem was performed in sign language.
