CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: With the aim of raising awareness about the role of water in our daily lives, the Regional Science Centre, Bhopal celebrated World Water Day. On this occasion, a series of events focused on this year’s global theme “Glacier Preservation” were organized at the centre’s premises.
As part of the program, a poster-making competition on the theme Glacier Preservation was held in two categories for school students. A total of 40 students participated in this activity.
Additionally, a live demonstration of a working model was presented, illustrating the melting of glaciers due to the greenhouse effect and the resulting rise in sea levels.
A workshop on “Water Testing” was also conducted, in which qualitative and quantitative analysis of water samples was carried out.
As part of the analysis, the acidity or alkalinity of water samples was tested using five chemical indicators (Litmus, Phenolphthalein, Thymolphthalein, Methyl Orange, and Universal Indicator), and the pH level of the samples was determined using pH paper.
Each of these activities saw the active participation of 20 students. All meritorious participants of the poster-making competition will be honored with prizes and certificates.
