CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The city is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall today, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). After a few days of humid and warm conditions, the cloud cover over Mumbai has brought relief to residents. Showers are expected in several parts of the city and suburbs, with the possibility of heavy spells in isolated areas.
Along with the rainfall, Mumbai’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has shown significant improvement. As of Tuesday morning, the AQI was recorded in the ‘moderate’ category at around 95, compared to the ‘poor’ levels seen last week. Experts say that rainfall has helped in dispersing air pollutants, resulting in cleaner air and improved visibility.
Local train and road transport are expected to operate normally, though commuters have been advised to carry umbrellas and plan for possible traffic snarls due to waterlogging in low-lying areas. Authorities have already deployed pumping systems in flood-prone zones to prevent disruption.
The IMD has also issued a forecast for the next 48 hours, predicting intermittent showers across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and avoid unnecessary travel during intense spells.
With the improvement in AQI, environmental experts have urged citizens to continue adopting eco-friendly practices to sustain cleaner air. Overall, the rainfall has brought much-needed relief from pollution and heat, setting a positive tone for the city this week.
