CNN Central News & Network – ITDC India Express / ITDC News Bhopal: Xavier Institute of Management successfully hosted its annual finance conclave, Finomics 2024. Organized by X-Fin, the Finance Association of Xavier Institute of Management, the event focused on the theme, “Financial Restructuring in Volatile Markets: Mergers, Acquisitions, and Strategic Solutions.”
The conclave was graced by esteemed speakers, including Vivek Toshniwal, CEO of Plutus Wealth Management LLP; Lakshmikant Lokhande, Senior Debt Specialist at HDFC; Haribandhu Patra, Director and CEO of Asia Pacific, Fiserv; and Surajya Narayan Mohapatro, Vice President of Standard Chartered. These prominent figures provided deep insights into strategic financial management. The event was moderated by Professor Ritesh Kumar Dubey, a distinguished faculty member in finance and accounting at Xavier Institute of Management.
The program began with a ceremonial lamp-lighting and an inaugural address by Professor Dubey, followed by the opening speech from Haribandhu Patra. He delivered a compelling talk on financial restructuring, emphasizing the importance of managing leverage and divestitures. He aptly remarked, “Anticipate volatility and turn it into an opportunity—it’s all about the mindset.”
Next, Surajya Narayan Mohapatro elaborated on the impact of volatility on valuation and stressed the need for technical adjustments in models to maintain balance during turbulent times. He remarked, “The actual market situation is vastly different from perceptions. Doing the right thing and doing it the right way are entirely different aspects.”
Vivek Toshniwal then presented an in-depth discussion on the significance of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in shaping the future of businesses. He highlighted the strategic need for careful selection and execution of M&A to emerge as corporate leaders. He further emphasized divestitures and spinoffs as essential strategies during volatile market conditions. Toshniwal stated, “The mantra for success during volatile times is FAST: Flexible, Agile, Strategic, and Teamwork.”
The final speaker, Lakshmikant Lokhande, underscored the importance of financial restructuring to navigate volatile markets. He advised focusing on long-term value creation despite short-term market fluctuations. He also shed light on how private credit is shaping the current market and urged young professionals to embrace it. He concluded, “Leverage and liquidity are the two forces driving robust financial stability.”
Following the insightful presentations by the speakers, an eagerly awaited Q&A session was held, where curious minds from XIM University actively participated.
The conclave concluded with a closing speech by Professor Ritesh Kumar Dubey and a vote of thanks delivered by X-Fin Coordinator Shreyas Sonawane.
