Through these sessions, attendees gained in-depth and simplified insights into WAVES Summit 2025, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR).
Expert Participation and Key Insights
The event featured Shikha Mehta, Co-founder of OTTNO.tech, and Urjit Dave, Founder of Aquanemus Tech, among other industry experts. They elaborated on Extended Reality (XR) as an umbrella term encompassing AR, VR, and MR, explaining how XR integrates all their features.
Experts emphasized XR’s transformative potential in the media and entertainment industry, as it merges the real and virtual worlds, elevating user experiences. The integration of AI/ML and gaming further enhances XR experiences, making them more personalized, responsive, and intelligent. The event highlighted that the XR Creator Hackathon is a nationwide initiative organized by Wavelabs, XDG, and Bharat XR in collaboration with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. This initiative fosters innovation in Extended Reality technologies and unites creative talents from across India to shape the future of immersive tech.
Additionally, discussions covered the WAVES Summit, a premier initiative celebrating India’s progress in creative technologies. The summit encourages collaboration between creators, industry leaders, and government institutions to drive innovation in the immersive tech sector.

The World Audio-Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) is set to take place in Mumbai from May 1-4, 2025. WAVES serves as a leading global platform for discussions, collaboration, and innovation in the Media & Entertainment (M&E) industry. It will bring together industry leaders and stakeholders to explore emerging opportunities, address challenges, and solidify India’s position as a global creative hub.

The event was attended by Prashant Pathrabhe, Additional Director General (ADG) of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Bhopal. He was welcomed by Prashant Lakkadwala, Head of the IT Department at Acropolis Institute of Technology and Research, who also presented a memento. Ajay Upadhyay, Assistant Director of PIB Bhopal, was also present at the event.
The Hackathon witnessed participation from numerous tech enthusiasts, who shared their experiences and explored the possibilities of XR technology.
