CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Yashasvi Jaiswal adds wicketkeeping practice in bid for India spot
Indian cricket team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is currently practising wicketkeeping along with his batting. His new effort has sparked discussion in cricket circles. Mumbai Ranji team captain Siddhesh Lad said Yashasvi is working hard to learn wicketkeeping. Yashasvi also shared a video on social media in which he was seen wearing gloves behind the stumps.
According to Siddhesh Lad, Yashasvi wants to play the role of wicketkeeper for Mumbai or the Indian team, although he does not have complete information on the matter. Yashasvi has also kept wickets in a Mumbai practice match. At present, it is not clear whether he wants to make it a regular role or is practising to add an extra skill to his game.
Yashasvi, who has strengthened his place in Test cricket, has found it challenging to secure opportunities in India’s limited-overs team. In such a situation, wicketkeeping skills could increase his utility in the future, but they do not guarantee a place in Team India.
Mumbai will begin their Ranji Trophy campaign against Chandigarh at the Wankhede Stadium from October 11. Yashasvi’s performance in this match will also be closely watched.
