CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: CNN Central News and Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News / Agencies, Bhopal: Stories linked to horror films and ghosts often heighten people’s curiosity. In a conversation about their film ‘Jhaad Phoonk’, actors Yashpal Sharma, Sumbul Touqeer Khan and Harsh Rajput shared several interesting anecdotes linked to childhood fears, experiences of exorcism and frightening incidents. During the interaction, Yashpal Sharma said Hollywood director Alfred Hitchcock’s film ‘The Birds’ scared him so much that he remained afraid of birds for several days.
Sumbul Touqeer Khan recalled an experience from a shoot at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. She said that when she was 17, she was staying alone in a hotel. At night, she was watching the horror film ‘The Grudge’ on television when she began hearing strange sounds outside the room. When she opened the door, no one was there. Soon after, the window suddenly opened with a loud noise and the curtain began flying in the wind. Frightened, she came out of the room and started crying. Later, it was found that there had been a storm that night and the window had not been closed properly.
Harsh Rajput was asked what he would do if he ever encountered a ghost. In a humorous tone, he said he would first ask where the ghost actually lived and what its story was. Sumbul said she would want to know from the ghost about its death and unfinished work. The film’s director Rajan Ramgopal Varma said ‘Jhaad Phoonk’ shows the difference between faith and superstition. The film is streaming on JioHotstar from October 30, 2026.
