The impact of cyclonic storm Murasu is still being seen in Chhattisgarh. The Meteorological Department on Thursday issued a yellow alert for eight districts of the state, warning of rain with thunder and lightning and the possibility of lightning strikes. After the next 24 hours, the minimum temperature is expected to fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. This could increase the chill during the night and morning hours.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather impact may be seen in Dhamtari, Gariaband, Bastar, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Bijapur, Dantewada and Sukma. Lightning strikes are possible in these districts along with thunder and lightning. Light to moderate rain may also occur in some areas of southern Chhattisgarh.

During the past 24 hours, rain was recorded in the southern parts of the state. Pakhanjur received the highest rainfall at 8 centimetres, while Sukma recorded 7 centimetres and Konta 5 centimetres. Rain also occurred in the capital, Raipur.

Temperatures are likely to drop after the weather clears. As a result, the effect of cold weather will increase at night in the state. In view of this change in weather, people should avoid staying in open fields and under trees during thunder and lightning.
