CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has strongly condemned what he termed as a “media trial” of Kanwar Yatris, asserting that some sections of the media have unfairly portrayed them as “terrorists” and “rioters.” Speaking at a public event, the CM emphasized that the Kanwar Yatra is a deeply spiritual and cultural journey for millions of devotees who walk for hundreds of kilometers with discipline and devotion.

Yogi Adityanath stated that the majority of Kanwariyas maintain peace and follow the rules laid out by the administration. He warned against the vilification of religious sentiments and accused certain media narratives of creating social unrest. He added that it is unjust to compare disciplined religious pilgrims with anti-social elements and demanded that media outlets show responsible journalism.

The CM also highlighted the extensive arrangements made by the state government to ensure a safe and smooth Kanwar Yatra, including medical camps, traffic management, and public amenities. He urged citizens to support the yatris and uphold the spirit of religious harmony.

This statement has sparked a fresh debate over media accountability and the fine line between reporting and stereotyping, especially when it involves faith-based gatherings.
