Ahead of Diwali, the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has given revenue department employees the gift of promotion. The State Revenue Council has promoted a total of 285 departmental employees to the post of revenue inspector. These include 206 lekhpals and 79 collection amins. The decision has brought relief to eligible employees who had been waiting for promotions for a long time.
Revenue Council chairman BL Meena, while giving information about the promotions, said employees have been assigned higher responsibilities on the basis of prescribed eligibility criteria. The council is laying special emphasis on completing the promotion process for departmental employees in a time-bound manner. The objective of this process is to ensure eligible employees receive the benefit of promotion on time as per rules.
Lekhpal employees work on maintaining land records in villages, making changes in land-related records and collecting crop-related information. Collection amins are responsible for the recovery of government dues and revenue. After the promotion, these employees will now have to discharge new responsibilities as revenue inspectors.
According to the Revenue Council, the decision will boost employee morale and strengthen departmental functioning. With promotion to higher posts, the employees’ experience and efficiency can be put to better use. The promotion ahead of Diwali is being seen as significant relief for employees who had been waiting for it for a long time.
