CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Yogi government has taken a strict stand in Uttar Pradesh to protect youth and minors from falling into the grip of substance abuse. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made it clear that preventing any form of intoxicant from reaching underage children is a priority for the government. Related departments have been directed to take immediate action and increase monitoring.
After a video related to the sale of liquor to a minor in Lucknow surfaced on social media, the Excise Department conducted an inquiry into the matter. The investigation found the conduct of the salesman at the concerned composite shop to be inappropriate, after which he was removed with immediate effect. Action was also taken against the shop as per rules, and a fine of Rs 30,000 was imposed.
The government’s focus is not limited only to action against the sale of liquor. Emphasis is also being placed on stopping the sale of tobacco and other intoxicants around schools and colleges, increasing awareness among youth, and strengthening monitoring on educational campuses.
The Yogi government’s message is clear: if negligence is found in preventing access to intoxicants by minors, immediate action will be taken against those responsible.
