CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Yogi Adityanath has urged ministers and MLAs in Uttar Pradesh to use public transport such as buses and metro services at least once every week. The Chief Minister said the initiative would help public representatives better understand the daily experiences, challenges, and expectations of common citizens who regularly depend on public transportation.

Addressing officials and legislators during a government interaction, Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of improving public transport systems and encouraging environmentally sustainable travel practices. He stated that when ministers and lawmakers personally experience bus and metro services, they can provide more practical suggestions for improving passenger facilities, safety, cleanliness, punctuality, and connectivity.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the need to reduce traffic congestion, fuel consumption, and pollution in urban areas through greater use of mass transit systems. The proposal is being viewed as an attempt to strengthen public engagement and promote accountability among elected representatives.

Officials believe the move could also encourage citizens to adopt public transport more frequently, supporting the government’s broader efforts toward sustainable urban mobility and efficient transportation infrastructure development across Uttar Pradesh.
