CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In this episode, we will raise awareness about our responsibilities toward the environment. Focusing on today’s pressing issues, we’ll explore how small efforts can lead to significant changes.
Reality Check:
Over 700 million people lack access to clean water: Currently, around 700 million people are deprived of clean water, and 2 billion struggle due to inadequate sanitation.
Waterborne diseases: Waterborne diseases claim the lives of 6 to 8 million people each year.
Scarcity of drinking water: Only 3% of Earth’s water is drinkable, and more than half of it is locked away in glaciers.
Excess water vapor: The amount of water vapor in the atmosphere exceeds all the water in the world’s rivers. Imagine, so much water surrounds us, yet it’s inaccessible.
Land degradation: Every five seconds, land equal to the size of a football field degrades.
Energy savings from aluminum recycling: Recycling a single aluminum can save enough energy to power a TV for three hours.
Cost of climate change: Addressing climate change will require $300 billion to $50 trillion over the next 20 years. The question remains, are we prepared?
