CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Youth Congress leader creates ruckus at Balod toll plaza, threatens vandalism

Balod. A dispute has surfaced in Chhattisgarh’s Balod district between a Youth Congress leader and the toll plaza management over exemption from toll charges. It is alleged that after not getting the exemption, the leader threatened to vandalise the toll plaza. A heated argument also took place with the toll plaza manager. The incident has become a matter of discussion in the area. However, police action in the matter and official statements from the parties concerned still need to be confirmed.

Dispute escalated during talks with the manager

According to information received, the Youth Congress leader allegedly expressed anger during discussions over exemption at the toll plaza. As the dispute escalated, he allegedly said that if the exemption was not given, vandalism would be carried out. During the conversation with the manager, he allegedly said, “You are not the collector, stand up and talk.” After this remark, the atmosphere at the spot is said to have become tense.

Dispute over toll exemption

Disputes have taken place at several locations over giving exemptions or concessional passes to local vehicles at toll plazas. However, on national highways, toll exemptions are granted only on the basis of prescribed rules and eligibility. An exemption is not necessarily available automatically on the demand of any person or organisation.

Awaiting official information on action

In cases involving disputes with toll plaza employees or threats of vandalism, CCTV footage and eyewitness statements can be important for investigation. At present, based on the available information, there is no confirmation of a complaint being registered, police action or any arrest in this case. The situation will become clearer after the official version of the police and the toll plaza management comes out.
