CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, ‘MY Bharat’ Bhopal organised the Drug-Free Youth for Developed India National Pledge Ceremony under the ‘Seva Sankalp Campaign’. The main objective of the ceremony was to make young people aware of the harmful effects of addiction, motivate them to adopt a drug-free life and ensure their active participation in building a healthy, strong and developed India.
The programme was held at several prominent venues in Bhopal, including the MSW classes of Government Naveen College, Jan Abhiyan Parishad, Ravishankar College of Pharmacy, Government Youth Hostel, T.T. Nagar, CRC Hockey Stadium and Manohar Computer Institute, Berasia. Young participants took part enthusiastically and pledged to stay away from addiction themselves and to help make society drug-free.
Creative activities were organised during the ceremony to spread public awareness and awaken a sense of social responsibility and commitment to de-addiction among the youth. At the venues, young people joined the ‘pledge signature campaign’ and signed in support of adopting an addiction-free life. Through slogan-writing focused on the idea of a drug-free India and activities such as the ‘pledge wheel’, the youth presented their creative expression. These activities effectively conveyed awareness about the physical, mental, family and social harms caused by addiction.
During the programme, the youth and citizens present were administered a collective pledge for Drug-Free Youth for Developed India. Participants vowed not to consume any kind of intoxicant or narcotic substance and to make their families, friends and acquaintances aware of the harmful effects of addiction. The message was prominently conveyed that only a healthy, aware, disciplined and empowered youth force can turn the resolve of a developed India into reality on the ground. Drug-free youth not only secure their own future but also play an important role in the progress of the family, society and nation.
The national pledge ceremony held under the Seva Sankalp Campaign infused positive energy, social awareness and a spirit of nation-building among the youth. Participants expressed a firm resolve to adopt positive and moral values in life and to take the message of a drug-free life to every section of society.
