CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The 2024 Youth Festival program was inaugurated at Sarojini Naidu Government Girls Postgraduate College. The event began in the college’s Department of Fine Arts, with Principal Surendra Bihari Goswami offering prayers to Goddess Saraswati. While addressing the students, Goswami emphasized that the Youth Festival is a platform for expressing enthusiasm and joy. He further explained that the festival brings out the inner celebration of students through various creative activities.

Today’s events at the college included unique competitions such as debate, elocution, rangoli, and collage making. In the debate competition, B.Sc. third-year student Akanksha Dubey argued beautifully in favor of the topic, “This House believes that social media is a threat to our privacy.” She highlighted that today’s youth often share personal information on social media, which can be misused by others. On the opposing side, B.Sc. first-year student Soumya Singh spoke about the benefits of social media.

In the elocution competition, B.A. third-year student Aparna Choubey, who secured first place, delivered an outstanding speech on online education. She emphasized the convenience of online education, allowing students to learn anytime and anywhere. However, she also pointed out the lack of interpersonal relationships between teachers and students in the online format. According to her, while online education enhances access to learning, it sometimes diminishes the essence of teaching.

B.A. first-year student Anushka Bardia discussed how, in online education, students can rewatch lectures repeatedly but may lack concentration due to the absence of direct presence before the teacher, which can reduce the focus needed for effective learning.

In the rangoli competition, Priyanka Baghel (B.Sc. third year), Anupriya Batham (B.Com. third year), and Shivani Sahu (BCA third year) secured the first, second, and third positions, respectively. The students expressed their emotions through freehand and traditional rangoli designs, using vibrant colors.
