CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: Mumbai. Former Indian cricket team all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has questioned young players not being given regular opportunities in the ODI team. He said that not giving talented players such as Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan consistent chances in 50-over cricket does not do justice to their ability. Yuvraj also expressed his desire to see Abhishek play in the ODI team.

Backing the three players, Yuvraj Singh said during an event in Mumbai that if the Indian team does not select players such as Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi in ODI cricket, then somewhere their talent is not being fully utilised. He hoped that, considering their current performances, these players could soon find a place in the ODI team.

Yuvraj Singh has long been a mentor to Abhishek Sharma. He credited Abhishek’s success to his hard work and consistent efforts. According to Yuvraj, Abhishek has achieved his success through hard work, and he should receive full credit for it.

However, Yuvraj also acknowledged that the presence of experienced players such as Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli in the Indian team makes it difficult for new batters to create space. Even so, he believes young players should get opportunities in view of their performances.

Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi have produced impressive performances in T20 internationals against New Zealand. In Wellington, the two put together a 118-run partnership in the powerplay, which was the highest team score in a powerplay in T20 international cricket history. Abhishek also scored a century off 35 balls in the same match.

Ishan Kishan has already played 32 ODIs for India, while Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi are yet to make their debut in the format. After Yuvraj’s remarks, discussion has intensified over giving young players opportunities in the ODI team and striking a balance with experienced players.
