Yuvraj Singh Still Holds Record for Fastest Half-Century in T20Is

CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In T20 cricket, scoring the fastest half-century is regarded as a major achievement for batters. The record for the fastest fifty in T20Is is held by Indian great Yuvraj Singh. He completed his half-century in just 12 balls against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup. The record still stands nearly two decades later.

In that match, Yuvraj hit six consecutive sixes in one over from Stuart Broad and completed his half-century in 12 balls. He went on to play a blistering innings of 58 runs off 16 balls.

India’s current explosive batter Abhishek Sharma has come very close to this record. In January 2026, he scored a half-century off 14 balls against New Zealand. Earlier, Abhishek had also hit a fifty off 12 balls in domestic T20 cricket, but that does not count toward the T20I record.

Young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi is also expected to achieve major records in the future. However, to break Yuvraj’s 12-ball record in international cricket, he will need to play an exceptionally extraordinary innings.
