CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s aircraft narrowly avoided being hit by a drone while taking off from Moldova for Norway. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre told public broadcaster NRK on Wednesday that Zelenskyy’s aircraft was preparing for takeoff when it almost came into contact with a drone.
However, Støre did not say from what source he had received the information or how close the drone had come to the aircraft. Zelenskyy was travelling from Moldova to Oslo on Tuesday, where he was to attend the funeral of Norway’s late King Harald V.
After the drone alert, Moldova briefly closed its airspace, causing delays to several flights, including Zelenskyy’s aircraft. Moldovan officials said two Russian drones had entered its airspace. One of them fell in Moldova, while the other headed towards Romania.
Zelenskyy reached Oslo safely and attended the funeral. However, it is still not fully clear whether there was a direct link between the drone referred to by the Norwegian prime minister and the Russian drones found in Moldova.
