CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Regional Science Center Bhopal will celebrate Zero Shadow Day at its premises. Zero Shadow Day is a special astronomical event in which the Sun is positioned exactly overhead at noon, causing objects on the ground to cast no shadow. For Bhopal (Latitude: 23.25° N), one such Zero Shadow Day occurred.

As part of the event, a kit will be showcased to demonstrate the apparent motion of the Sun toward the north or south of the equator—responsible for phenomena such as the equinoxes, solstices, and Zero Shadow Day.

In addition, the program will include continuous measurement of the length of a vertical pole’s shadow on graph paper to illustrate how the shadow length changes over time, ultimately helping to identify the exact moment of zero shadow. The shadows of various geometric objects projected on the ground by the Sun will also be monitored to determine the moment of minimum shadow.

Everyone is welcome to join this engaging and educational event.
