CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is today becoming a cause of fertility-related problems for many women. In this condition, hormonal imbalance and irregular ovulation can make conception difficult. In such cases, a balanced lifestyle, regular exercise and yoga may help improve health. However, it is important to understand that lifestyle changes are not an alternative to IVF for every woman.
Yoga and exercise may help. Regular physical activity is considered useful for women affected by PCOS. Yoga, walking, light exercise and other activities may help reduce stress, improve sleep, and keep weight and metabolic health under control. In some women, improvement in weight and insulin resistance may have a positive effect on the menstrual cycle and ovulation.
Pay special attention to diet. According to experts, a balanced diet also plays an important role in managing PCOS. Including whole grains, pulses, green vegetables, fruits, protein and fibre in meals may be beneficial. It is better to limit the intake of excessively sweet foods and processed food. Adequate sleep and stress management are also important parts of a healthy lifestyle.
Proper tests are necessary before IVF. Having PCOS does not mean that a woman will necessarily need IVF to conceive. In many cases, medical consultation and appropriate treatment may help with ovulation. In some situations, however, other fertility treatments or IVF may be required. Therefore, it is not advisable to delay treatment by relying only on yoga or home remedies. If there is difficulty in conceiving, it is important to consult a gynaecologist or fertility specialist for evaluation and advice.
