According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), conditions are becoming favourable for the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from some parts of western Rajasthan around September 19. However, this does not mean that the monsoon will withdraw from the entire country at the same time. Uttar Pradesh is expected to continue seeing rain, thunder and lightning over the next few days. Rain activity may continue in eastern Uttar Pradesh until September 20. Rain is also likely in eastern parts of Rajasthan, with heavy rainfall forecast at some places on September 19.
Weather is also likely to remain active in Maharashtra and central India. According to the IMD, heavy rain may occur in Madhya Maharashtra on September 19, while rainfall is also expected to continue in Vidarbha. Rain, thunder and lightning may also be seen in several parts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. The weather department said a low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal around September 19. Under its influence, rain may continue in several parts of eastern and southern India in the coming days. Therefore, despite the beginning of the monsoon’s withdrawal, weather activity is likely to remain active in many parts of the country for now.
