Mumbai-Pune Expressway 20-Vehicle Crash Caught on Dashcam

CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal / Mumbai :  A shocking dashcam video has emerged showing the exact moment a high-speed truck lost control, resulting in a massive 20-vehicle pile-up on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The accident occurred on Saturday along the Khopoli route, during peak travel hours, and the footage has since gone viral on social media.

The video shows the container truck veering abruptly to the left, apparently in a desperate attempt to avoid hitting vehicles in the central lanes. Despite this maneuver, the truck plowed into several vehicles in the outer lane, including luxury cars like BMWs and Mercedes. Eyewitnesses said the truck’s brakes had failed, which was later confirmed by Khopoli police.

The gruesome crash left one woman dead and 19 others with serious injuries. All injured individuals were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Navi Mumbai for treatment. Emergency services responded swiftly to clear the wreckage and assist victims.

Khopoli police have taken the truck driver into custody. Preliminary medical tests confirmed he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Authorities are continuing to investigate the mechanical failure and whether any negligence was involved.

The incident has sparked renewed concern over vehicle safety checks and speed control enforcement on Indian highways, particularly during high-traffic hours.
