CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: After carrying out searches in Tumakuru on Wednesday, the NIA team investigating the March 1 Bengaluru blast reached Ballari bus stand on Thursday in pursuit of leads regarding the suspect, said local reports. The investigators believe that the suspect travelled to Bhatkal from Ballari.
The investigators suspect that the man had travelled to Ballari via Tumakuru after the blast, reported Udayavani. More than 10 NIA officers reportedly reached the city early on Thursday morning after the suspect was seen in the city bus stand.
The suspect reportedly got on a Gokarna-bound bus in Ballari and got down at Bhatkal, The New Indian Express quoted an officer as saying. The coastal town of Bhatkal is infamous for being home to several ISIS-linked terrorists, including Yasin Bhatkal, who was named in the NIA's most wanted list until his arrest.
A new photograph showing the Rameshwaram Cafe blast suspect sitting inside a public bus following the explosion in Bengaluru has been circulated online. Bengaluru police suspect that that man in the photo is the main suspect who allegedly swapped his full-sleeve shirt and cap before boarding the bus.
This comes a day after NIA announced Rs 10 lakh cash reward for information about the suspect, while posting a photo of the suspect clad in cap, mask and glasses while entering the cafe.
At least 10 people were injured in the IED blast at The Rameshwaram Cafe in Brookfield, Bengaluru, on March 1.
