Eight month old baby gets new life in AIIMS

Eight months old and a big hole in the heart. His father kept making rounds of hospitals in many cities of the country. But was disappointed. Disappointed everywhere, he came to Bhopal, consulted the doctors at AIIMS and then a ray of hope appeared. This is the story of eight month old baby Hitesh.

Who had a big hole in his heart since birth, which is called ventricular septal defect. In this disease, a hole is formed in the wall between the two lower chambers of the heart. When the hole does not close, it can cause increased pressure in the heart or less oxygen in the body. The child was also suffering from Down syndrome.

Down syndrome is a genetic condition in which a baby is born with an extra copy of its 21st chromosome.

Here, when the team of CTVS i.e. Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery saw the child, they saw a challenge in it and they accepted the challenge. After this operation which lasted for about two and a half hours, the team heaved a sigh of relief as the operation was completely successful. This operation was carried out by Dr. Yogesh Niwariya and his team. The anesthesia team was also present along with them.

Such cases are found in about eight out of 1000 people. This was also a challenge because the weight of the 8 month old child was only 3.3 kg. Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, Professor Ajay Singh has congratulated the team of surgeons for successfully completing this complex operation.

He also said that AIIMS Bhopal is ready to accept every challenge and we are one of the institutions providing best health facilities in this region and will continue to create new dimensions of our excellence. The child was kept under observation for about a week after the operation and after that he was discharged from the hospital.
