CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Recent data from the Workforce Health Index 2026 has revealed concerning signals related to blood sugar and mental stress. According to the report, among 7,088 HbA1c test reports, 38.7 percent of results were found to be in the pre-diabetes or diabetes category. The HbA1c test is used to estimate average blood sugar levels over the past roughly two to three months.

The report also presented significant figures on mental stress. Among responses from 7,346 people, 40.4 percent said their stress level in the previous week was between 7 and 10 on a scale of 10. According to the report, this figure was 33.9 percent in 2025, indicating a rise in self-reported high stress levels over one year. At the same time, only 30.7 percent of people reported sleeping at least seven hours daily.

An increase in blood sugar with age was also observed. In reports of people aged 20, the share of elevated sugar was 16.7 percent, while by the age of 50 it reached 69.1 percent. However, the report’s sample has not been considered representative of the country’s entire population. Experts said regular health check-ups, a balanced diet, adequate sleep and stress management are important for health.
