CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New Delhi. Amla is considered a storehouse of nutrition. It contains several bioactive compounds, including vitamin C. Vitamin C plays an important role in the normal functioning of the body’s immune system, collagen formation, wound healing and the absorption of iron obtained from plant-based foods. Drinking amla juice in the morning can provide the body with vitamin C and antioxidants. However, there is no strong scientific evidence that drinking amla juice on an empty stomach directly cures or eliminates any one disease. Amla should be considered part of a balanced diet, not a substitute for medicine for any illness.

The antioxidant compounds present in amla may play a role in protecting the body from oxidative stress. Some studies have observed possible benefits between the consumption of amla or amla-based products and certain cardiovascular risk factors, but these findings should not be viewed as treatment for disease. It is also important to keep in mind that the fibre content of the fruit may decrease during juicing. In general, eating the whole fruit provides greater fibre benefits. Therefore, it is better to consume a limited quantity of juice without added sugar, and it should not be made a substitute for fruits, vegetables and a balanced diet.
