CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New Delhi. Looking after heart health is not just about waiting for symptoms of disease to appear. According to experts, problems such as high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, blood sugar and weight gain can continue to develop for a long time without clear symptoms. In such a situation, it is important to pay attention to everyday habits.
The first habit is regular physical activity. Brisk walking, cycling, swimming or any other preferred exercise can be done regularly. Experts advise at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity every week. Prolonged continuous sitting should also be avoided.
The second habit is a balanced diet. Meals should include vegetables, fruits, whole grains, pulses, nuts and adequate protein. Excessive salt, sugary drinks, highly processed foods and unhealthy fats should be limited.
The third and fourth habits are health check-ups and stress control. Periodic checks of blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar are useful. Getting enough sleep, reducing stress and staying away from smoking and tobacco are also important for heart health.
